Yo dudes! Dan over at The Other World has a pretty sweet group break idea that could net people some awesome cards. You can check out his post here.
As it stands right now, the proposal would be 2 boxes each of 2010 Panini Century Collection (one of my personal favorite sets), 2011 Leaf Valiant, and 2011 Leaf Ink (which I opened here). I do enjoy mid- to high-end products, and these are some of the better ones at that. As well, for $60 to $65 a slot (Dan's working on logistics, so the price could lower), I think people would get much value and fun from this break.
Anyway, I just wanted to help spread the word because I think it would be a hoot!
On this date, sixty-two years ago, Clem Labine made his major league debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers.
From 2005 Topps Dem Bums Autographs.
Labine could have pitched against Bobby Thomson in the 1951 National League pennant playoff, but that duty went to Ralph Branca instead. The shot that followed was certainly heard around the world. You might remember that I pulled a Bobby Thomson cut auto not that long ago. Labine was a paratrooper in World War II and a great relief pitcher as well. Dem Bums!
*Update: Apparently also today in 1950, Vin Scully joined the Dodgers broadcast team. Awesome!
Man, it's been two weeks since my last post. I guess I've been quite busy. I traveled back home to Los Angeles about two weeks ago to be a groomsman at my college buddy's wedding. An unexpected package from The Daily Dimwit was awaiting me when I got back:
Yay, free giveaways from the Dimwit and his sponsor, Breygent Marketing! Thanks Sam! I love comic art and these cards are great, exhibiting bold colors and excellent artwork. The "Warlord of Mars" is, in fact, John Carter (created by Edgar Rice Burroughs) - main character of Disney's eponymously-named, massive box office bomb.
Red Sonja! Badass, voluptuously-proportioned redhead barbarian. While I do enjoy the Dark Horse Conan graphic novels, I unfortunately have not read any Red Sonja comics yet.
I am the least familiar with Vampirella out of these three characters. One can construe that she is likely a vampire, though. I am of two minds about her outfit. Either that it does not seem very practical (no pockets), or perhaps it is just functional enough (to cover various bits and such).
